Private health screening checks
Why use our Health Screening packages?
The aims of Health Screening are threefold:
- To identify pre-existing health problems
- To assess risk factors for disease
- To provide recommendations on lifestyle and health that will encourage a longer and fitter life and greater efficiency at work
A periodic medical examination will aim to ensure you and your family are in peak health.
Our comprehensive health screenings include medical assessments of general and occupational fitness and advice regarding lifestyle and other issues which may have a significant impact on your health. All screenings are conducted in a relaxed and confidential environment designed to be reassuring to the individual.
Where possible, the same doctor would normally undertake repeat screenings, to ensure continuity in patients care.
Health Screening packages available:

Well Man Check (equivalent to HealthPlan health package)
The Well Man Screen is designed especially to detect disorders that are most likely to affect men during their adult lives. It lasts 45-60 minutes. All the tests are carried out by the doctor or by the doctor and practice nurse, where appropriate, and there is time for the patient to raise and discuss any concerns. It is the equivalent of the annual HealthPlan check for registered patients.
Well Woman Check (equivalent to HealthPlan health package)
The Well Woman Screen is designed to detect disorders that are most likely to affect women during their adult lives. It lasts 45-60 minutes, will be undertaken by a doctor (female if preferred) and a practice nurse if appropriate, and includes a smear, breast examination and instruction. A detailed gynecological history is taken, with plenty of time allowed for the patient to raise and discuss any concerns with the doctor. It is the equivalent of the annual HealthPlan check for registered patients.
Vision Test
Vision is of vital importance and regulations require that personnel using VDU equipment have satisfactory vision for this purpose. The vision test assesses this together with near vision, distance vision, night vision, colour vision and peripheral vision.
Hearing Test
The hearing test is an assessment available at the Practice for anyone concerned about possible hearing loss. A hearing test (Audiogram) can assess hearing levels, particularly relevant where there has been past or current exposure to loud noise.
Coronary Heart Disease Risk Assessment
The Practice has a computerised programme available for the quantitative assessment of heart disease risk. The coronary heart disease risk assessment test includes a fasting blood test for cholesterol estimation.
Pre-employment Health Checks
The pre-employment health checks are medical examinations in which the doctor acts as an agent of the prospective employer, and usually lasts 30 minutes. The examination will be carried out by a doctor who has not previously looked after the patient. A report will be submitted to the company in an agreed format. Where problems are found the company will be advised (following discussion with the patient) and permission sought for any follow-up investigations.
Executive Health Screening (equivalent to the HealthPlan Plus health package)
The executive health screening entitles patients to a detailed health check, plus a comprehensive blood test, providing a more detailed assessment of an individual’s haematology and biochemistry, together with a vision and hearing test. The test lasts 90 minutes. It is the equivalent of the annual HealthPlan Plus check for registered patients.
